Rajuk Plans to Approve Building Plans Within 24 Days

The government is taking initiatives to ensure that building plans submitted to the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) are approved within 24 days, Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher Suman said.

He also announced plans to prepare a separate master plan for Narayanganj alongside Rajuk’s existing master plan.

The minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after inaugurating the newly established Narayanganj Development Authority (NDA) office in Khanpur, Narayanganj, on Tuesday afternoon.

24-Day Approval Target for Rajuk Plans

Speaking about Rajuk’s services, Minister Zakaria Taher Suman said the government is working to streamline the approval process so that plans can be approved within 24 days.

He said several Rajuk services are being brought under digitalisation to make them faster and more accessible.

Among the planned changes is a move to eliminate the need for a second mutation when ownership of a Rajuk plot is transferred after the property has already undergone mutation.

The minister said Rajuk’s future services and operations will be significantly different from those of the past.

Separate Master Plan for Narayanganj

The minister said a dedicated master plan will be prepared for Narayanganj in addition to Rajuk’s existing master plan.

Authorities are also reviewing whether the jurisdiction of the Narayanganj Development Authority should be expanded. Areas including Fatullah and surrounding locations may potentially be brought under the authority, he said.

Bringing Services Closer to Residents

According to the minister, Rajuk covers a large geographical area but previously lacked sufficient manpower to provide services effectively across the entire jurisdiction.

The formation of development authorities in Narayanganj and Gazipur is intended to bring development and urban planning services closer to residents in those areas.

He said both Rajuk and the Narayanganj Development Authority are government institutions, and decisions will be taken based on what serves the public interest.

Focus on Planned Urban Development

The minister said the primary objective of establishing the Narayanganj Development Authority is to ensure better services for residents and promote planned urban development in the city and surrounding areas.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by NDA Chairman Masukul Islam Rajib, Narayanganj-5 constituency lawmaker Advocate Abul Kalam, Narayanganj District Council Administrator Professor Mamun Mahmud, Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator Advocate Sakhawat Hossain and other officials.
