Police have recovered the bodies of four members of the same family, including a former teacher of Rangpur Zilla School, from their home in the Machhuapara area of Rangpur city. The bodies were retrieved around 11:00 PM on Saturday (August 22) after breaking open the lock of the closed house.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the region and cast a deep pall of gloom over the local community.
The deceased have been identified as Ganapati Chakraborty Jewel (65), a retired teacher of Rangpur Zilla School; his wife Preetilata Chakraborty Bhola (50); their daughter Prarthi Chakraborty (25); and their younger son Priyam Chakraborty (12).
According to police and local sources, the house had been locked from the inside for several days. On Saturday night, growing suspicious, local residents alerted the police. Officers from the Kotwali Police Station arrived at the scene, broke the lock to gain entry, and discovered the four bodies. However, police could not immediately clarify how or why the deaths occurred.
